Throughout my time at art school I have been figuring out a process that works for me when trying to create concept art pieces. As an Illustrator it’s important to have good references especially if you are trying to create a sense of realism in your work. Online references can be good, but also can be difficult to come up with the correct poses or lighting scenarios. I have found that taking your own references and reaching out to friends or family to help you shoot. Not only does this make your references more clear, but also gives your images a sense of originality. This is just my method of how I go about getting good reference, but Im curious how other artists utilize reference; as it can strengthen an illustration ten fold. What sites/methods do you all use to create your artwork? Let me know!
